During Flash Techniques workshop organized by Mike Giovinazzo I have had some people interested in Strobist techniques. Some of them are just beginning their journey to a wonderful world of portable flash imaging.
I’m planning to begin the Strobist meetups series with 1 orientation meeting where I’m going to get people started: what camera is required/acceptable; what kind of flash could be used; essential gear (light stands / light modifiers / etc) and so on. Please don’t expect any good images from the first meetup, it is more or less organizational and introduction.
For this meeting please bring your flashes and manuals. If you have other gear, please bring it with you so you can keep it in the trunk until we need it. Once we get group up to speed we can plan real strobist style shot, hire models, pick appropriate location, etc. For the first meeting, you do not have to have extensive flash knowledge but a will to learn and experiment. For now the goal is to get people familiar with the strobist philosophy and assemble a group of enthusiasts.
All meetup details are tentative yet, we will setup firm date, time and location collectively. When suggesting location, please keep in mind that we need a place where we can meet in any weather condition and we need to sit all the people coming.
LOCATION: TBD. As of now I’m inclined to meet at 1 Rifle Rd, but any other location that meets our requirements will do.
